About
In mid-March 2020, people around the United States went into "quarantine" in their homes to help slow the spread of COVID-19. For that reason, workplaces and schools that were used to meeting in person were forced to adopt virtual meeting plans.
As a student myself, I found it difficult to transition to the virtual learning routine. New software, new schedules, and new expectations made it challenging to fully embrace the new way of life. I knew that there was a way to simplify Windward students' new virtual learning routines.
That day, I set out to develop what eventually became known as Schoop. After about two months of intense development, I was finally ready to release a beta version of the app to a select group of students.
The app currently has a solid set of features, with more on the way. Currently, you can input your classes and Zoom links and see your schedule for the day. You can also see what the current class is and what's coming up next. We have also added a section with a daily quote and the Windward Twitter feed to inspire you and keep you connected to our vibrant community.
We are also working on new features! Features currently in development include clubs and miscellaneous meetings as well as the option for a daily email containing a student's personalized interactive schedules. We also plan on rolling out an opt-in system sends students notifications before their classes or events begin. If you have any ideas or feedback on the app, drop us a line (either by email or by Google Form)! We would love to hear what you think.
As of May 9, 2020, 88 students have signed up to use Schoop, and 48 of those users are currently active. You could be one of our users! Sign up today to take control over your virtual learning life.
Overall, I am pleased with the progress of the Schoop project. As users have been signing up, I have been getting more and more feedback and constructive criticism that I plan on implementing in future releases of the app.
